Mission

To replace reassurance with real evidence: personalized guidance that helps people build the self-awareness, self-advocacy, practical skills and systems, and wellbeing practices to know, not just hope, they're ready for what's next.

The Founder

About Monique

Monique Heiser Fernández, Founder of LAUNCH by Heiser
Monique Heiser Fernández
Founder & Life Transition Strategist
Ed.M., Harvard Graduate School of Education

Over more than twenty years in the classroom, watching students from grades 2 through 12, I kept seeing the same thing happen. Every year, the changes kept coming, but the roadmaps rarely did. Some students found ways to cope, but others just convinced themselves that confusion was simply part of the deal. It broke my heart every time, because I knew it didn't have to be that way.

I saw it again as a mother, watching my own children step into college. They were smart and excited and full of potential, and still they didn't know how to use the resources and tools right in front of them. That wasn't because they weren't capable. It was because no one had ever shown them how.

Then I lived it myself. After 21 years of teaching, I returned to Harvard as a student, a former teacher, a mother, and someone with decades of experience. I still found myself navigating unfamiliar systems, unsure where to go, who to ask, or how to carry everything else life asks of you while starting something completely new. The gap doesn't care about your age, your experience, or your credentials. It shows up for everyone, at every transition.

That's when it became clear: life is hard as it is, so why not have a toolbox?

I built LAUNCH by Heiser because I spent twenty years wishing I could do more, and I finally have the experience, the platform, and the lived understanding to do exactly that, from three seats at once: educator, mother, and returning student.

The Framework

The LAUNCH Framework™

Six real skills to thrive wherever life takes you next. Simple enough to teach in a single conversation, durable enough to apply to every life transition. Click each letter to explore.

Every skill is taught the same way, through one consistent, research-backed method, applied the same way every time, for every skill, in every session.

L
Locate Your Strengths
Knowing yourself and recognizing what you bring.
Every transition starts with knowing who you are and what you bring, not the resume version, the real one. This skill is about locating the strengths that are already true, so you walk into whatever's next already standing on solid ground.
A
Advocate for Yourself
Communicating, asking for support, and taking ownership.
Whatever door you're walking through, someone has to actually ask for what they need, clearly and respectfully. This skill is about learning to reach out, build real relationships, and take ownership of your own path, instead of waiting for someone else to open doors for you.
U
Understand the System
Learning how to navigate unfamiliar environments and resources.
Every new environment, a school, a company, a city, has a system nobody hands you a manual for. This skill is about learning to read how things actually work before you need to, so you're never caught off guard by an institution you don't understand yet.
N
Navigate Your Time
Developing the ability to manage priorities, responsibilities, and commitments.
Every transition asks you to manage more independence than you're used to. This skill is about building a real system around your priorities and your energy, not just reacting to whatever feels loudest in the moment.
C
Cultivate Wellbeing & Connection
Building habits and relationships that support growth.
Thriving through change takes more than getting the logistics right. This skill is about knowing your own stress signals, building habits that actually sustain you, and building real connection wherever you land, instead of waiting for it to happen on its own.
H
Harness Your Confidence
Recognizing your growth, trusting your abilities, and moving forward with purpose.
Confidence isn't something that shows up before you're ready, it's something you build by collecting evidence of your own growth. This skill is about learning to return to that evidence whenever doubt shows up louder than it should, in this transition and every one after it.
Before
After
"I don't know what I bring to the table."
"I know my strengths and how to use them."
"I wait for someone else to open doors for me."
"I know how to ask for what I need."
"New systems and environments throw me off."
"I know how to read a system before it reads me."
"I react to whatever feels loudest."
"I have a system that works for me."
"I don't take care of myself until I break down."
"I know my own signals, and I protect my wellbeing."
"I doubt myself when things get hard."
"I know I can handle it, because I've done it before."

One framework, one method. Every transition.

General
What is a Life Transition Strategist?

I help people navigate life transitions, giving them a clear understanding of what's ahead, the skills and systems they'll need, and practical strategies for handling real-life challenges. Whether they're preparing for a transition or already in the middle of one, I guide them toward greater clarity, confidence, and independence.

Is this therapy, counseling, or coaching? What makes LAUNCH by Heiser different?

It's not therapy or counseling, and while people sometimes assume it's coaching, LAUNCH by Heiser is something more specific: it's built on a named, research-backed framework, the LAUNCH Framework, six skills (Locate Your Strengths, Advocate for Yourself, Understand the System, Navigate Your Time, Cultivate Wellbeing & Connection, Harness Your Confidence), each with its own session and its own tangible output. The client isn't just talking through a transition; they're building real tools they'll actually use. It's structured and repeatable, grounded in my own graduate training in education, two decades of experience working with students, and my own life experience navigating transitions.

Who's actually in a session — is it just the client, or are parents included too?

Sessions are always one-on-one, just me and the client, that's where the real ownership gets built. For programs like LAUNCH into 12th Grade, where the client is still in high school, parents aren't in the room during sessions, but you're never left in the dark: LAUNCH Growth Notes after select sessions give you a window into what was covered.

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions are built around real, research-backed tools and strategies, not just conversation. Each one is interactive and hands-on: the client is actively building something real and specific to that session, a tool they'll walk away with and actually use, not just talking points.

How will we know it's working? What's actually different afterward?

By the end, the client has real, tangible material to show for it, tools and plans built specifically around them, plus something less visible but just as important: a shift from uncertainty to real, evidence-based confidence in handling what's next.

In-person or virtual — how does scheduling work?

Both options are one-on-one, and scheduling is built entirely around the client's own timeline, so we'll find a rhythm that fits.

How do I enroll?

Just reach out! Once you do, I'll send over an enrollment form. Completing that form and processing payment is all it takes to reserve a spot.

How does payment work?

Payment is easy and flexible, by Venmo or ATH Móvil. You're welcome to pay in full, or split it into two parts: the first half the week before sessions begin, and the second half after the third session.

What if I need to reschedule a session?

Life happens, and I completely understand! Once a session date is confirmed, I just ask for as much notice as possible if something comes up: 48 hours for in-person sessions, since I need that time to make sure the space is available, and 24 hours for virtual sessions. I'll always do my best to find a new time that works, though I can't guarantee a make-up session will land exactly when you'd like, so early notice really helps us find the best fit.

What qualifies you to do this work?

Over 20 years working alongside students and families at an international college-prep school in Puerto Rico taught me how much a young person can grow with the right support at the right moment. I hold a master's degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education and bring specialized training in executive function and academic life coaching, but just as meaningfully, I've lived this transition myself, as an educator, a mother, and a returning student. LAUNCH is the program I always wished existed.

About LAUNCH into 12th Grade
Is this college counseling? Will you help pick schools or write essays?

LAUNCH into 12th Grade isn't college counseling, and it doesn't replace your school counselor, it works alongside them. Students do get more comfortable and conversant with the college process itself, but choosing schools, building a final list, and writing essays stay with your school counselor. This program focuses on what happens before and around the college process: the confidence, systems, and self-advocacy that make it possible to handle it well.

My student already has a school counselor — why would we need this too?

That's such a fair question, and this isn't about replacing your school counselor, whose role is broad and genuinely valuable. It's about adding something different alongside it: consistent, one-on-one time built entirely around your student, for a life transition that takes longer than a semester or a few conversations to really prepare for. A school counselor supports your student inside the school system. This program focuses on the transition itself, and on the skills that will carry your student through this one and the ones still ahead.

Why start this in sophomore or junior year instead of waiting until senior year?

The best time to build these skills is before they're urgently needed, so your student walks into senior year already equipped rather than trying to catch up in the middle of it. Starting in sophomore or junior year means the transition becomes something your student is genuinely prepared for, and can even look forward to, instead of something that catches them off guard.

What's included in the Founding Family Cohort rate, and how long is it available?

The Founding Family Cohort rate ($968, instead of $1,210) is offered to the first families in the program, in exchange for testimonials, case studies, and feedback that will shape it for every family after. It's a warm invitation to be part of the program from the very beginning, and it won't stay at this rate indefinitely.
